End Fall Semester

rushed a bit for the final but it's all over! ((ended a while ago actually))
pretty good grades :) got the lowest in Painting.

So with that :
Painting

I finally got the rest of my watercolor pieces back and was able to scan them

Finished the space bears piece although the media I used for it killed me! the professor didn't like it so I plan to redo this digitally

and then the last assignment which was a mix of animals. meh I just rushed this

Work in progress stuff

Media
Now we're working with acrylic paints. The project is to do the eye of an animal. The piece can either
be a super zoom in or even just the entire animal. It all depended on what we wanted to paint.
We did a little demo to understand how much detail our professor expected out of us. She handed out these owls she already drew and we painted over the card stock. My media professor is an amazing artist btw! I admire her stuff a lot.

so for my animal I picked several and she OKed the elephant shrew for me!

and then here's the work in progress so far. It's not due for almost two weeks so it's going slow.. I gotta paint each hair on this little guy.

I finally finished the La Musica poster we had to make for the chamber music orchestra in Sarasota. It's a little contest we all have and the opera house picks one of our posters to be used for their festival. It's themed every year and this year it was "Moving Music." I'm pretty ok with my final piece.. I learned a cool trick with photoshop that is definitely starting to affect the way I draw now.

Anyway here's the process for my piece!

I have no idea if I have a chance in winning. My poster got a good critique but it's so.. different.. from what everyone else did. I'm pretty sure that won't work to my advantage. Hm.

For now we're doing a page or spread illustration for a children's book or fairytale of our choosing. I picked goldilocks and the three bears! But we gotta reimagine the story so mine takes place in SPACE.

I'm not gonna post anything for now so I can show the full process. I'm at the value study stage right now.

Attempt two to Update

Officially a sophmore in Ringling now!
(already for longer than a month actually..)

Painting Class
we do oil paintings
I'm really bad at oil painting, I'm having a lot of trouble and my teacher doesn't like anything I do.. she's on my case about everything which is good since she's trying to help me but it's frustrating.
We did an abstract painting which I already gessoed (gesso'd?) over.
Here's the first still life:

I also have to do another abstract piece which I'm slacking on because.. oil

Media Class
First piece we did was ink! We had to draw a sea animal (our choice) and it had to be with the first letter of what it's called. I decided to do a hermit crab and I was ok-ish with the finished piece. My critique actually went well and the piece is being displayed in the illustration building which was a nice surprise! (found out when I snuck in at 3am)

Second project was a cut paper portrait and I just realized I never photographed or scanned that. Well I still need to get back my finished piece so I'll scan that when I get it back.
Right now we're doing watercolor portraits! we're gonna do a ton. Right now I'll show my grandpa since his came out ok, I still need to do a lot of trials!

Illustration Class
We just finished our first project. It took forever but we're gonna pick up the pace since we know the process now. Our first piece was on phobias and I did mine on heliophobia (fear of the sun.)
I'm just gonna put the pieces in process since I scanned those!

Super duper tight lines lineart I don't know it was for value studies I spent an entire class on the final study but I didn't scan it it was a really intense tiny sketch

And the final!! which is photographed horribly because it was 4am and I was dead tired

I'll get a better photo one day. It got a super good critique which was shocking since I had liked it a lot more when it was just ink and I thought I killed it with the watercolor.. but people liked it so eh.

Btw for each one of those we had to do a critique.. all class.. it was torture.

MISCHELAANOUS 

besides school I actually have art projects planned with my friends! 

I'm gonna make a signature stamp for my pieces since we have to have our name on each so we're gonna take advantage of our school's lazor (lazer) cutter. 

I'm also going to these digital art demoes the school holds.. although I've yet to get the groove of it so all I have are these doodles..

The plan is to do a lot of art this summer so hopefully I end up with some things.

Final Week

I could have just waited until I finished my last painting before posting but eh!
I rather post than work on it.. it's due tomorrow afternoon hah
here's a really horrible comic I did of Bei when I was really mad yeah!

I also finished this skateboard for this charity thing. It's going to get sold and the money will go to the skatepark so kids don't have to pay so much for admission. We could draw whatever we wanted so I just sat down and did this without really planning.

Some drawing 2 paintings that are going to be critiqued on friday. I peaked with that last landscape painting haha I just can't anymore with painting.. I'm not made for it..
